Throughout my 37-year career as an Advisor to businesses, government, and industry, I have discovered that there are three fundamental concepts that are crucial to successful marketing and promotion.

1. People Buy from People: It is easy to forget that despite the digital age, we still crave human connections. For this reason, the client-facing aspects of your business should be personable and able to connect with your target market. It is essential to maintain regular contact with your audience through your marketing, services, sales, support, and delivery functions.

2. Old can be New: In a digital world where cut-through is challenging, adopting a retro approach may yield significant results. Consider using old-school methods such as handwritten cards, print media, bus advertising, personalized marketing, direct mail, magazines, and personal calls.

3. The 5Ps of Marketing: Marketing comprises five essential components: patrons, product, price, place, and promotion. Without a clear marketing strategy based on the first four Ps, promotion alone will not be effective. Therefore, it is crucial to develop a robust marketing strategy that covers all the 5 Ps to achieve optimal results.
